A few months ago I posted a piece containing a collection of snippets of all sorts. Quotations, observations, poetry, and doggerel that caught my attention over the last 50 years or so. The reaction of those who read the piece was surprisingly positive…some even asking for more. So here it is. The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes.” Andy Rooney “If you do’t think you can do it, I will find someone who can.” H. Ross Perot (I heard this one in person) The young have aspirations That never come to pass. The old...
A few months ago I went to see a much lauded orthopedic specialist about a nagging and growing pain in my ankle. I described it as a stabbing pain that came and went as if it had a mind of its own. After a bit of touchy feely about my foot and ankle and with reference to the x-rays just made, he pronounced it as being related to, maybe even caused by episodic Post Traumatic Bone Degeneration beginning long ago in my now misty past. What? Eh? Whaya mean, I asked, and by the way, what is causing it. I do remember thinking that Goldwater wasn’t a very nice guy, but no specifics other than the fact the he was a strong advocate of using Agent Orange to defoliate the jungle, kill the Viet Cong and our troops as well. Since that time I’ve voted in 15 additional presidential election, not to mention numerous other elections of all sorts. Given my time in life, more likely than...
Gary J. Fernandes
After 30 years in the world of big business, Gary “retired” to pursue long ignored interests. While continuing his involvement in the corporate world by serving as a director of several public companies, he has, among other things, traveled the world in pursuit of the perfect bird photograph, served national and local charities as a director and donor, developed a personal web site as a platform for his writing on subjects of personal interest, and, occasionally, taken time to smell the roses.
Gary and his wife Sandra, shuttle between their condo in Dallas and their farm in Fannin county, Texas where they indulge themselves in organic gardening, long walks and entertaining friends and family.
