In December of 2016 I published a piece on the narcissism of the emerging DJT. Although I did not name him due to fearful admonitions from my darling wife, it would have been hard to read it without easily identifying the main character. I must say that I’m pretty proud of my prescience in nearly perfectly nailing the notable characteristics of our president to be. Now I’m less hesitant to pin him down by name as the culprit of my characterization, but I have, however, after careful study and gritted teeth concluded that I missed a couple of the more important aspects of his personality and character. Just to refresh your memory, I’ve listed below directions to get to the original piece.
Type garyjfernandes.com in your browser and when you get to the Thinking Allowed page, type NPD to a T in the search box. Or just ignore all that and read below. NPD, btw way, is short for Narcissistic Personality Disorder. There must be an easier way to do this, but I can’t figure it out,
Ok. Now for what I missed. Trump is not just afflicted with having a Narcissistic Personality Disorder, he is both a Sociopath and a Meglomaniac. Yes, I know, that might be stretching the point, but just read the definitions below and reach your own conclusions.
A “sociopath” is a non-clinical term for someone with Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD), characterized by a profound lack of empathy, disregard for social norms, manipulation, impulsivity, and often harmful behaviors, with symptoms like lying, aggression, and irresponsibility. Whereas; Megalomania which is an obsessive desire for power, wealth, or fame, characterized by delusions of grandeur, an inflated sense of self-importance, and a belief in one’s own superiority, often seeing others as inferior tools; it’s a psychological state linked to serious mental health issues like severe narcissism or psychosis, manifesting as grand schemes, manipulation, and a tenuous grip on reality, though the term is also used informally for just plain arrogant individuals.
Wow. How can you expect to find that all in one package. Not let me see if I can put it all together then. Just as he scores perfectly on the Mental Acuity Test, he hits on every element of these definitions.
This now named person must be the first and only Megalomaniacal Narcissist with Sociopathic Behavior Disorder. (MNSBD). I think I’ve contributed to medical science by concluding there exists at least one person who ties all the major personality disorders together in one neat bundle..
I’ll let you draw your own conclusion.

I cannot argue against your thoughts about our leader. He borders on or swims in all you suggest, plus he has a blatant disregard for a typical politicians approach to governing. Oh wait, he’s not a politician. Which, brings greater notice of his lack of a ‘customary’ approach to politics.
But, boy do I ever thank my lucky stars that he is the president.
Good to hear from you Larry. There’s not a lot of us Iota Kappas still ;around.
Gary, I think your personality analysis of DT is spot on. However, a more complete picture of the man should include some evaluation of the results he has achieved, and will likely achieve, that benefit America and Americans, and other countries and peoples around the world.
In addition, I wonder what point are you really trying to make…..would you have preferred another term for Biden, or perhaps one for Kamala Harris? I hope not since either of those alternatives would have been a disaster for America and perhaps the rest of the world.
I’ll rest for a while to see your learned response…..since I know you have a good one to share with us……
Rather than say it all again in a different way, reread my post of 11 Jan entitled Character Counts.
What psychological profile applies to those who follow such a deviant? This inability to admit error – what sacrifice will be enough to overcome such ego? Our morals, safety, and humanity are not enough; the life of a fellow human? Dozens? Hundreds? Thousands? To know and see this evil and still bow before it without the excuse of insanity is surely worse – what a living hell that squalid existence must be.
US politics can best be described as farcical. Since the Great Recession we’ve been subject to a feckless political grandee, a clueless, doddering old man, and a egomanic best suited for a third-world nation. Surely we can do better, although in this age of rampant partisanship the ability of voters to think for themselves has been lost.
Gary, your assessment is spot on!
Thanks John.
I owe you a call back on the Community Center.
Despite his imperfections, Trump is doing good things for our country, and he has charted a course that I believe will bring additional benefits to our country and her citizens. His determination is palpable, and he is unafraid to stop threats in their tracks. I can’t even imagine Kamala Harris making the call on Iran that Trump did.
I’ll leave this thread with one final thought: Thank God Biden is gone. That doddering old fool wreaked havoc on our beloved country with his dopey, and harmful, open borders policy. What he did is unforgivable and borders on treason. Try diagnosing him.
